Best Of NYFW Fall 2015, Part 1

Fashion month is only officially 3 days in and we’re already blown away by. An unusally refreshing and impressive start! With chin grazing turtlenecks, floor sweeping everything, and fifty shades of gray paving the way come fall, we’re rounding up a few of our favorite collections thus far . . .

Trademark: Inspired by Garry Winogrand’s midcentury photographs and their own mother’s personal style, Pookie and Louisa Burch are reinterpreting American sportswear with their signature retro modern sensibility. We can’t get enough of the variety of coats, all with the right amount of distinctive details.

BCBG Max Azria: Oversized turtlenecks were creeping up nearly every wonderfully layered and textured look at BCBG – with temps dropping below 20 degrees in New York, we couldn’t imagine needing any other clothing staple more. On top of that, colorful embroidery and artisanal patchwork, inspired by the Azrias’ recent trip to Barcelona to the shores of the Baltic Sea, appealed to our modern boho alter egos.

Katie Ermilio: Sumptuous cashmere and sheer wool lace . . . enough said. You had me at navy.

Protagonist: Before her first showing at fashion week, Kate Wendelborn already cultivated a following with her minimalist luxe label Protagonist which has been, until recently, exclusive to The Line. Her understated yet beautifully tailored collection makes her one to watch.

Timo Weiland: We’ll always have a soft spot for 90s grunge – especially when it’s so brilliantly interpreted with a modern, polished flair. And those chunky knit beanies? Need.

Hellessy: Designer Sylvie Millstein’s muse this season was “bundled up in knits and coats in a color palette of frost and fog.” Wide leg crepe pants, lengthy sweaters, and floor grazing knit scarves . . . we want it all. And a couple of extra inches in height.

Rodebjer: We are totally digging the retro, Stevie Nicks vibe of Carin Rodebjer’s fall collection. She’s perfected the fluid silhouette, enhanced by psychedelic prints and bewitching embossed lace, and that signature ease, with wearable layers.

Tome: Designers Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo tugged at our heartstrings by incorporating delicate sheer lace under long turtleneck sweaters and over flowy, silky dresses. But what really stood out were the gorgeous coats, with their oversized lapels.

Ryan Roche: Ryan Roche did what Ryan Roche does best: cozy cashmere, country comfort, and monochrome layering. Yes, yes, and yes!

Sally LaPointe: Sophisticated but relaxed. Quiet but powerful. Feminine but handsome. Soft but edgy. Contradictions couldn’t make more sense in Sally LaPointe’s richly juxtaposed textures and silhouettes. Perfection.

You curated an excellent preview of the start of the 2015 fall collections. I have been a big fan of the Protaganist. It’s great to see them do there first show. I am in love with Kate Ermilio’s collection — Love the Navy.

As long as the fur is cruelty free I would wear. Fur farms are brutal torture, please watch how they are processed so you will be aware of the torture and pain the animals suffer.
