The fiddle-leaf fig ficus, or ficus lyrata, is hands down my favorite indoor house plant. These living art sculptures are characterized by large, stiff, and almost leather like dark green leaves radiating off wooden stems. It’s also super hardy – ideal for all of you with black thumbs out there!

Maybe that is the right plant for me cos my thumb is pretty black. No plant has survived yet 😀

DIY ON MY BLOG
I want one so bad! I have the perfect place for one – in a awkward corner behind a chair and a half next to a huge window.
Love the fiddle leaf fig tree. I have one at home and I always get compliments on it. It truly is like a sculpture.
They do need a lot of light to survive though or they will start to loose their leaves.

I am not a house plant fan but these trees look beautiful in every room, I now want one! (or six)
Great way to incorporate plants indoors.
I loved it!
I’m posting looks from L.A. and accessories:
I have one and I have to say it’s pretty high maintenance! Leaves started dropping so we watered it less; then moved it to sun; then to shade; then watered it a bit more….and now it’s an ugly site.
Given how expensive they are — I know feel the pain as there are only 8 leaves (and now calculate that each leaf is worth $50). So sad!
Beautiful places! Love the plants!
Great tip for us all black thumbs out there! Love the decor!
Those are BEAUTIFUL! And I love how big they get. It’s like an indoor palm tree but so much more interesting.
*starts researching ficus plants*
These really are like living pieces of art! If ever you tire of keeping one alive, we make the most realistic faux ones out there – and Celerie Kemble and Meg Braff can’t get enough of them.

I LOVE these plants. I have two real fig producing trees outside, but the leaf shape on this one is luxurious.
my god i am dying over some of these amazing interiors. i’ve never even though of putting a fig leaf ficus in my home, but clearly i’ve been foolish.
What a fun plant! Finishes off those lovely interiors!
some of these pictures are simply gorgeous! i just love the way some of them have been pruned.
So inspiring !

It’s like having a tree in your living room, love it!
My grandmother has an absolutely massive one in her kitchen since the 80’s. Like this thing is curled under the ceiling its so big.
They are SUPER super trendy. Like the only blog approved house plant, I would say. I have a zizi plant, also super hearty and sculptural, but its not a tree.
I have 2 huge ones in my dining room. I like the fact that they bring in some oxygen as well.
These are my favorite trees as well I absolutely love them I have found these big beauties in Africa and India and have bemoaned not being able to have one outside my house. Never thought of potting one! I am just so please!!
Super chic! Love it! http://Www.facebook.com/theozroom xoxo
ahhhh, so lovely! i’m slowly starting to accumulate houseplants and i think one of these babies needs to be my next purchase.
don’t be fooled…this tree is NOT easy to care for. black thumbs beware!
It’s like a forest!!
How lovely! i love indoor plants…
Well these are beautiful… but I promptly googled them to find out if I could possibly not kill this thing, and I found out it was poisonous to cats and dogs! I thought it’d be a good houseplant since my 2 cats *might* not be able to reach the leaves to chew them all off, but I wouldn’t chance it if it’s poisonous. Darn.
LOVE these shots!
I love these tree. Check out this post about their use in tv sets: http://branchedesign.com/blog/2013/6/17/love-affair-with-a-tree
I live in Houston, TX. I NEED to get one of these trees in my home ASAP. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase one, and how to take care of it?
Actually, these ARE great for plant killers! I can’t even keep an ivy alive but this ficus grows like mad no matter what I do!Two years ago when I bought it it was about 3 feet tall. I repotted it right away, put it in my south window, water it whenever (I’m awesome at forgetting to water and, when I do remember, over-watering) and now it’s 5′ tall with new shoots out the bottom and several new branches! When we were rebuilding the front wall of our house last summer, it got left outside for a time and got badly sunburned. The worst leaves fell off and the rest have been recovering since. Recently I started watering it with the run-off from my sprouts; since then (app. 2 months), it’s grown 6″ and sprouted even more branches! It must love the extra carbs 🙂
Good day! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was
wondering if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for
my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having problems finding one?
Thanks a lot!
OOMMGG!!! Love the two trees in the dining room. Now what do I do about getting more light in so I don’t kill the poor things!?

Hi, i believe that i noticed you visited my website so i came to go back the
favor?.I am trying to in finding things to improve my website!I guess its good enough to use a
few of your ideas!!
A friend heavily pruned her two inside fiddle leaf ficus trees and gave me the cuttings. They were branches about 3-4 feet in length. I stuck them in two different pots in potting soil. I don’t remember if I used rooting hormone or not, but both of the pots with 3-4 branches all rooted. I’ve since cut them back and re-rooted to other pots. I keep them outside (I live in NE Florida) as my house is too dark. I gave one to my sister and she put it in a room with too little light. She just returned it to me with each and every leaf half green, half black! Now what the heck am I supposed to do to cure THAT? Just wait for it to grow out all over again? It’s going down to 34 tonight and I do NOT feel like getting the hand truck to roll these two into the garage. I think I’m going to take my chances. Cross your fingers! Science project. . .
