Chanel Fall Couture 2013

Beneath the glass dome of Paris’ Grand Palais, Old World grace collided with New World futurism. Toughened Chanel-bots walked through an apocalyptic setting with boxy tweed suits accessorized with wide hip-slung belts and beaded mini skirts worn over ankle length dresses. And if the future is now, then we cant wait to get our hands on next season’s version of the knuckle ring. How these jeweled nail cuffs manage to stay on, we’re not quite sure, but I predict we’ll soon figure it out.

  1. Oh my goodness this is PERFECT. I actually need those rings. I can’t get over how perfect they are! The setting is amazing. Coco herself would be impressed I’m sure!

Those rings or nail cuffs or whatever the hell they are, are absolutely amazing! I wonder if they would stay on through normal life or if they’re just for fantasy runway life? The prices are surely fantasy runway only, but they look so stunning. Wonder if we’re going to see more pieces like this from other folks in the months to come… (and yeah, ok, I mean knock-offs or DIYs. Sorry, just keeping it real!)

Very futuristic indeed. Like you, I am wondering how you can actually wear the nail cuffs. They are very unique and interesting. They did a great and very imaginative job on the venue where the show was held. Fascinating idea! It’s like; robots have really attacked the place. What a very unique show.

I’m in love with the nail cuffs. I can already picture myself fumbling to put them on. As for the tweed jackets and beaded skirts, I love how they made something normally considered “nightwear” and brought it to the light. And as always, Chanel’s models were amazing. The strong eyebrows really brought out the idea of the apocalypse. My favorite part is how you can see that there’s a utopia outside, but they’re inside, forced to deal with the aftermath.
