San Miguel de Allende

Posted by on

With my one year wedding anniversary exactly a month away, I thought I’d share some images of San Miguel de Allende, a small colonial town in which my husband and I were married. San Miguel de Allende is nestled in the Bajio mountains of central Mexico and is known for its narrow cobblestone streets, buildings painted every color of a desert sunset, carved doors with unique brass knockers that open into grand courtyards, tinkling fountains and lush gardens. All of its magical charm makes it one of my favorite places in the world and I highly recommend a visit if you haven’t already been.

i find it incredibly strange and interesting that of all the photos, on all the blogs, on all the days, we both used the SAME picture in a post we made today….

SUCH vibrant colors! …Now if only we in the US could get over our love of beige & gray we could maybe step up to painting our houses red or yellow. (o:

Thanks for sharing- these photos are beautiful.

I was in San Miguel for a month studying abroad in college. I made the rounds to every one of the 4 paleterias (popsicle stores) every day, so none of the shopkeepers would know just how many popsicles I was downing daily. (lunch, dessert, dinner, dessert). I also saw two dogs that were joined at the hind leg there on the street.

My husband and I traveled there in 2009 just before our wedding. It is one of my most favorite places in the world. Um also, are you wearing a monique lhuillier wedding gown? If so, we wore the same dress! I got married on the beach in Koh Lanta, Thailand.
