The traditional navy sailor pant has come a long way since it was first introduced to the Royal Navy sailors in 1857. These high waisted and wide legged maritime inspired trousers have been reinterpreted this season in various silhouettes like jumpsuits and materials like distressed denim. We dig them. Oh, and a little fun fact: In the 1920s, Coco Chanel used to challenge the rules of sartorial etiquette by wearing loose fitting sailor pants at the beach.

These new styles are a far cry from my skin tight Chemin de Fer’s from junior high. Lord, I just HAD to have them. And the lace ups, tuxedo style and the zip arounds that came later in high school. I was a style maven at an early age.
