Some say that the comeback of the flare & wide leg denim trend marks the death of the skinny jean. Although I’m not ready to retire all of my skinnies just yet, I’m more than happy to lend a couple of pairs for the sake of an HonestlyWTF DIY. With denim scrap I saved when making some denim cut-offs last summer, we’ll show you how to upcycle a pair of skinny jeans into a pair of bell bottoms!
You’ll need:
– a pair of skinny jeans
– scrap denim or fabric
– a pair of scissors
– a seam ripper
– a sewing machine
– a ruler
I’m still swooning over Zimmermann‘s latest collection, titled Halcyon Days, from Australian Fashion Week. Every detail, from the watercolor florals and the fresh tones to the geometric panelling and the handworked lace cutouts, is wow-inducing. I want to live in Zimmermann all summer long . . .
This past weekend I met the talented Adina Mills at the Unique LA independent design gift show. Traveling in her vintage RV, she travels to places like Arkansas to dig for quartz crystal for her jewelry collection. Her jewelry is absolutely mesmerizing and I happily went home with a new chalcedony ring!
Canadian photographer Todd McLellan has inspired me to look around and take things apart for their components (DIY supplies?). Todd disassembles and meticulously rearranges the inner working parts of everyday items such as a camera, a flip clock and a typewriter. The result is a series of incredibly interesting photographs!
