Cuban artist Abelardo Morell is known for his life size photographs projected onto the walls of rooms all over the world using the most unique technique: a century old photography principal called camera obscura. He blacks out the windows of the rooms in order to achieve total darkness. Then, he cuts a small hole in the material he uses to cover the windows, allowing an inverted image of the view outside to flood onto the walls of the room. Finally, he takes a photograph of the image on the wall with a large-format camera and exposing the film as long as 10 hours. Honestly, genius!! Thanks for the tip, Karen!
Leave it to Stella McCartney to throw chic garden party in New York City’s West Village to present her Resort 2012 Collection. Models, in tropical hawaiian prints mixed with richly colored strips and bold tailored separates, mingled while snacking on pretzels & lollipops, playing ping pong & croquet and taking a whack at a festive piñata. FUN!
A few months ago we read news of Tim Kaeding and Lela Tillem, formerly of 7 for All Mankind and Citizens of Humanity respectively, developing a fresh new denim line called Mother. The duo spent the past several years devising new fits and developing materials that look like denim but feel like cashmere. We were immediately sold and have been waiting on pins and needles to get our hands on a pair. Thankfully, Mother is now available for the denim obsessed! PS – check out The Coveteur for a peek inside Tim and Lela’s closets!
