Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2013

The scene was set for Stella McCartney‘s pre-fall presentation at Americas Society Art Gallery on Park Avenue. While drinking champagne and playing games of Scrabble, models were sketched by artists at easels donning outerwear of exaggerated proportions, patterns of strips and jacquards, well-tailored separates in brilliant color combinations, and colorblocked eveningwear. Effortlessly playful and oh-so minimally chic, the collection indeed addresses the need of every modern woman’s wardrobe. Honestly, so good!

DIY Shell Earrings

The chilly climate has hardly deterred me from incorporating a bit of tropical flair into my winter wardrobe. Inspired by Kelly Wearstler‘s metallic shell earrings from her upcoming spring collection, I’ll show you how to transform a couple of simple shells into a pair of beachy stunners. Vamos a la playa!

We’re loving Free People‘s January catalog, shot by Guy Aroch in bike friendly Amsterdam and featuring their newest collection of artisan bike accessories. Starting this month, they will carry limited edition items including hand-tooled and painted bike seats, crochet skirt guards, embossed handlebar grips, hand-painted wooden bike stands, and wine bottle holders. I mean, how adorable is that tricked out tandem!?

Lulu Frost Studio Visit

Several weeks ago, while in New York, Lauren and I spent the afternoon with the ingenious and affable Lisa Salzer at her Lulu Frost headquarters. We both have been fans of the brand since the launch of her iconic Plaza collection, so it was an absolute treat delving into Lisa’s world of vintage inspired baubles and costume jewelry. After previewing Lulu Frost and George Frost‘s upcoming collections, drooling over a stunning array of one-of-a-kind pieces, watching an impending J.Crew collaboration come to life, sifting through an extensive collection of antique jewelry and found objects, and gazing upon her awe-inspiring mood board, it was clear that Lisa’s passion for her business and craft is in a class of its own.
