What happens when you give Natalie Joos exclusive access to Diane von Furstenberg‘s private archives? A most colorfully explosive photoshoot, at the iconic designer’s Connecticut estate, showcasing classic DVF prints, vintage wares, and current season favorites. I love the clashing mix of prints, which is motivating me to dig through some of my own DVF pieces that I’ve held onto through the years.
We’re more than halfway through remodeling our home which means the fun tasks, like selecting finishes and picking out furniture, have finally begun! I’ve been busy gathering inspiration and couldn’t help but fall in love with interior designer Mark D. Sikes‘ Hollywood Hills home. I love the California sensibility with its crisp palette, blue and white accents, and the occassional accented wall.
Breanna Musgrove, designer and founder of Scout & Catalogue, first started experimenting with dying fabric and hand crafting accessories while she was living in Mexico. Today, the bohemian beach culture of Mexico has inspired her to hand dye gorgeous scarves in her Vancouver studio. Very special!
For me, summer isn’t complete without a handful of weekend trips to the river. I’ve been visiting the South Fork of the Yuba River, where California gold was once discovered, for over 10 years. A scorching heatwave recently brought me to the river’s pristine waters and deep swimming holes, where I sported my new red Miu Miu sunnies for the first time. They were quite the departure from the usual black framed sunglasses I’m used to but oh, how pretty they looked glittering against the shimmering water! If you decide to make the worthwhile trip to the Yuba, from San Francisco, don’t forget to pack a chic pair of sunglasses, a colorful swimsuit, comfortable sandals, and a small bag for bug spray, sunscreen, water, snacks, and a camera. It’s really all you need to survive an afternoon at the river.
