Finding inspiration from his mother’s old getaway photos, Erdem toned down his usual feminine conservatism with slightly boyish elements this season – like slouchy trousers, loose shirts and boxy jackets. This pre-collection experimentation? We dig it! And PS, how amazing are the black and white bow loafers he’s producing with Nicholas Kirkwood?!
Avarcas
The first avarca sandal originated in Menorca, a small island in the Spanish Mediterranean, and were made from recycled tires to keep the feet of farmers and villagers cool. Since 1945 Avarcas Pons has specialized in artisan Menorcan sandals for three generations. I bought myself a pair of these years ago when I lived in Spain and I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am that they are available stateside now. Trust me, you will love them!
A Peace Treaty Scarves Spring 2013
A Peace Treaty simply kills it season after season with their collection of hand screen-printed cotton and silk scarves. I especially love the geometric pieces with soft pastels combined with bolder blues and rusty browns but let’s be honest, I’ll take one of each please.
Book Paintings
Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova places old books and other documents together and paints over them to create the most beautiful installations. Below are some pieces from her exhibition Un, due, tre, fuoco in Rome earlier this year.
DIY Crystal Studded Sneakers
After seeing a pair of Swarovski encrusted New Balance sneakers, captured via Instagram at last week’s CFDA Awards, I was immediately inspired to DIY my own. I loved how simple the shoes looked – with just the logo covered in subtly colored rhinestones. So why not bling out my recently purchased Nike high tops?!

- 300-400 Swarovski flatback 3.2mm round crystals
- 400-500 Swarovski flatback 4mm round crystals
