The Absence of Water is a photo series by Gigi Cifali that focuses on abandoned swimming pools built during England’s Victorian era. These desolate landscapes, that once provided such fun and joy to many, are now hauntingly beautiful artifacts.
Ace & Jig Fall 2013
Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson are the textile-obsessed team behind Brooklyn based label Ace & Jig. Choosing stripes as their surface pattern, a constant throughout their collection, the design duo aims to create authentic and substantial clothing that is not only soft and warm but also timeless and not overly styled. It’s one of my favorite collections this fall!
Black and Gold
My, oh my . . . the black and gold palette in this kitchen makes me weak in the knees. And the wood beams, patterned tile and little reading nook just add to its charm. Can you just imagine waking up and whipping up an amazing breakfast in this glorious room every morning? So good.
Edith Head
You might have noticed that yesterday’s Google header honored the birthday of one of the most talented women to ever work in entertainment, Edith Head. The eight time Academy Award winner designed costumes for over 1100 films in a span of fifty years. I spent so much time online admiring each of her sketches that I thought I would put together a group for you all to enjoy. Fun fact: the little black dress that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast At Tiffany’s was designed by Givenchy in Paris but Paramount Studios thought it revealed too much leg. The lower half of the dress was redesigned by Edith Head. If you want to see a little bit of Hollywood magic, you must watch this video!
