Chris Turnham
Los Angeles based illustrator Chris Turnham has spent his career working in feature and television animation and contributing to publications and children’s books. His retro, cartoon-eque screenprints of The City Of Angles captures the architectural spirit of neighborhoods such as Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Eagle Rock and Griffith Park. The Angelino in me loves this.
DIY Oversized Floral Brooch
I couldn’t help but ooh and ahh over the gigantic lily corsages that seemed to bloom from the boldly colored floral patterns of Dries Van Noten‘s fall collection. There was a refreshingly surreal quality to the vibrantly painted, three dimensional flowers – a departure from the more literal Carrie Bradshaw inspired versions we’ve seen in the past. Dramatic, fun and perfect for those warmer days ahead!
You’ll need:
- a large silk flower (I used Casablanca Lilies)
- a can of spray paint
- a long stick pin
- hot glue gun
- wire clippers
La Dolce Vita
Photographer Gray Malin has wowed me once again with his series La Dolce Vita. He has documented Italy’s most famous beaches, on a 2,000 mile coastal road trip, that include the Amalfi Coast, Capo d’Orlando, Cinque Terre, Mondello, Praiano, Capri and many more. And of course, the iconic and retro umbrellas make the photographs that much more visually stunning. Obsessed.
Emerson Fry Warm Spring 2014
Life has been pretty distracting lately with a lot of exciting projects in the works – so much so that it has hardly hit me that I’m off to Mexico next week for the first long vacation since my son Quincy was born last spring! Emerson Fry‘s latest offerings has inspired me to pack light, easy and simple. A week of rest and relaxation deserves some unfussy, pared down classics . . .
