My Living Room Makeover

After spending an entire year renovating our newly purchased home, my husband and I found ourselves hitting a visionary roadblock when it came to furnishing one of the most important and multi-functional spaces: the living room. This open area posed a bevy of challenges for us, one of which included having a layout that accommodated the entertaining guests, playing areas for our crawling – now walking – toddler, and the occasional television viewing. Enter One Kings Lane, who recently came to the rescue and solved our design conundrum . . .

So here is how it all began . . . . an empty palette in need of texture and color!

Indigo blues, blue and white chinoiserie mixed with natural, rustic elements . . . exactly what I love!

Orchids, succulents and a gorgeous fiddle fig plant!! I was never blessed with a green thumb but I’m determined to keep my new indoor plants thriving, thanks to a few plant care tips from the OKL team.

TADA! I would have never imagined the room to turn as beautifully as it did. They layout makes the room feel larger, the swivel chairs allow us to view the television, the easy to clean, slipcovered sofa is comfortable and kid friendly, and the campaign desk breaks up the shelving so nicely and is the perfect place to set up a little bar when entertaining or put our record player when we just wanna hang out and listen to music.

I love all your posts and your living room is beautiful! It’s exactly how I would have mine except I have a son the same ages as yours and I can’t have anything within his reach… how do you cope?!?

@Anna we just make sure to not have anything breakable in his reach. It helps to teach them to “touch” and “be gentle” with the items that are off limits. We also have a rule of no food in the living room, which helps!!

Thanks Erica, I’ll keep working on the ‘be gentle’ route. I was so inspired today I reorganised my bookshelf! Thanks again.
