Inspired by the 1973 French film, La Bonne Année, this custom balloon skirt was designed by Janine Trott paired with a Givenchy top for Vogue UK. I am now dying to see this movie – have you seen it?

wow
I’m speechless
and I’ll definitely watch the movie
the picture is cool,I have seen the movie, but I have to tell you that is ”la bonne année” not ” boone année”
Boone unfortunately doesn’t exist in the french vocabulary! (except maybe if you want to talk about a Lost caracter!)
wow at first i din’t even know that was her skirt lol i thought she was just sitting next to a balloon
Let freedom overtake you. Suck in the liberty as you fill with it like a balloon. Let the colors of independence stripe your smooth, round surface. Pop a hole in the restriction of the rubber. Use your newly-found self-determination to become more than the average balloon. Openness and looseness shall run throughout your Nomex mouth. Your lips will be fire-resistant and unable to be burned by the tainters- the conformers. The rest of your fabric- the principles you are consisted of- is strong, colorful nylon. A rattan basket hangs from your arms. It is woven with brown down-to-earth strips. In it are small foot holes for those that enter and move on from your basket. The weight of those that ride along has nothing to do with gravity, but instead pressure and influence. Some stay with you for years, travelling the world and holding close to your ropes. Others walk out within mere days, your flame flickering for a brief moment in remembrance. You make your life what it is. Why not make it one big dream?
I now have this picture on my inspiration board- along with this short story I wrote to accompany it. Thanks for the motivation!
oh my gosh this is incredible! I love when fashion meets art.

what a fantastic photograph. i love the utter simplicity of it, but the hints of excitement.
thanks for sharing,

I’ve been seeing a lot of oversized balloon-esque skirts lately! It seems like when one designer starts to do something innovative, the rest follow suit and destroy the idea’s uniqueness. That is fashion, I suppose.

Wow this is such a great idea! Ahh, gorgeous dress and photo!
I don’t think the dress was inspired by the movie… It says that it was inspired by Rene Magritte’s painting “La Bonne Annee” …
this is amazing
