Let’s all take a moment and swoon over the fantastical couture magic, inspired by the Roman Opera, that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have created. Have your jaws dropped yet?! The usual, romantic lace and chiffon affair (the gold thread dress is embellished with 4,000 gemstones that took 2,500 hours to affix) was taken up a notch this season with short, ballerina-like frocks and capes and gowns decorated with jungle animal motifs – both themes inspired by Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin” and Amilcare Ponchielli’s “The Dance of the Hours” respectively. Should we start making guesses as to which of these gowns we will be spotting at the Oscars this year?
