If I had a nickel for every time my mom has warned “the sun is not your friend,” I could retire tomorrow. Honestly. Instead, my closet is full of sun hats, fedoras, cowboy hats, visors, and various other sun shielding apparati. While it may not suffice as an alternative to sunscreen, kudos to Lola Ehrlich for transforming a simple straw hat into a chic stitched fedora and inspiring us to add a little pizzaz to one of our many hats!

After crushing hard on this vintage net bag spotted by Phil Oh on the streets of NYC, we knew we had to attempt to DIY it. Sprucing up a reusable cotton bag from the grocery store with some hardware and carabiners? Sign us up! In just a few simple steps, we’ll show you how to make our rendition of the net bag – perfect for a stroll in the park.
Supplies List
- a cotton net bag (also available at Whole Foods)
- 2 carabiners (if you can’t find gold carabiners, you can spray paint them)
- 8 sets of 1/4″ screw posts
- a flat head screwdriver
- a pair of scissors

You should all know by now that we are all about stacking bracelets on our wrists. The more, the better. In fact . . . the most, the best! With that being said, we’ll show you how to master a version of the ever so popular wrap bracelet. It’s so simple and addicting, you’ll soon be churning out these wristlets with your eyes closed. Clearly this arm party train isn’t stopping and it’s about time you get on board!
You’ll need (for a double wrapped bracelet) :
- 44-55 inches* of 1.5mm leather cord
- 12-15 inches* of brass ball chain or crystal chain
- 58-72 inches* of waxed linen cord (scroll down in link)
- a 1/4″ brass hex nut
- a pair of scissors
* Lengths will vary depending on the size of your wrist (see comments for suggestions).

When Lisa and Jessica of Leyendecker confessed to us their love of DIYs, we immediately jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with the designing duo. Not only are we in love with their line, we are huge fans of the charming and talented ladies themselves. You can imagine how much fun we had spending the entire day crafting in their LA studio! Drawing inspiration from Leyendecker’s signature trims and unique handmade details, we’ll show you how you can easily make your very own lacy fringed dress.
You’ll need:
- a long plain tee or dress
- a half skein of yarn
- a lace applique or lace doily cut into the shape of the collar of the tee
- a pair of scissors
- a legal sized file folder

A few weeks ago, our friend Katie showed up wearing the cutest lace trimmed shorts. We were impressed to discover that not only did she DIY them, she made them using boxer shorts! We immediately raced to Target for white boxer shorts and the fabric store for a variety of pretty white lace trims. Honestly, this DIY is so simple and perfect for summer!
You’ll need:
- men’s or boy’s white boxer shorts
- 2 yards of lace trim
- a pair of scissors
- pins
- a sewing machine or needle and thread
