Anndra Neen

Posted by on

What started out as a unique jewelry line, founded in 2009 by Phoebe and Annette Stephens, has now evolved to include a collection of metal handbags. Not only were the sisters influenced by their own professional backgrounds in the arts, their grandparents provided much inspiration to the Anndra Neen aesthetic and approach. Their grandmother was the artist and jewelry maker Annette Nancarrow and their grandfather was the avant-garde composer Conlon Nancarrow; the two lived in Mexico City in the 1930s and ’40s and were friends with the likes of Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and Anaïs Nin. Each of these incredibly unique clutches are hand crafted by blacksmiths and artisans in the sisters’ native Mexico. Honestly, want!

Combing traditional embroidery techniques and an unconventional combination of Swarovski crystals, sequins, and colorful gems, designer Shourouk Rhaiem fabricates the most magical and magnificent jewelry. I’m especially lusting after her newest collection of polyvinyl evening bags . . . honestly, divine!

Olympia Le-Tan

Inspired by vibrant and old book covers, Olympia Le-Tan launched her You Cant Judge A Book By Its Cover collection in September 2009. Her love of literature was a passion she shared with her father, French illustrator Pierre Le-Tan, and her talent for embroidery was inherited from her grandmother. Each clutch is handmade in France, lined with beautiful Liberty of London fabric, and limited to only 16 pieces per design. I would love to own any of these incredible book bags –  it would look so lovely sitting on my bookshelf when I am not carrying it!

Spanish Moss + Upstate Giveaway

Posted by on

Our Shibori tie dye tutorial was the first DIY we featured on HonestlyWTF, almost two years ago. So not only do we have a soft spot for this ancient Japanese dyeing method, we can truly appreciate a well crafted piece when we see one. And trust me when I say that Upstate executes the art of tie dyeing better than anyone. Luckily, our lovely friends at Spanish Moss are giving away an incredible, one of a kind cloak from the Brooklyn-based design duo. All you have to do is leave a comment, explore the plethora of other beautiful wares at Spanish Moss (or better yet, sign up for their newsletter for updates and sales), and a winner will be selected at random on Monday, March 26th. (Sorry, limited to US & Canada residents only. Winner will be announced and contacted by email. Good luck! xx ***Contest is now closed. Congratulations to Katie!)

Plukka

We’re honestly obsessed with Plukka‘s Razor Mitten collection. Their rhodium and 18k rose gold rings are adorned with tiny white sapphires and diamonds – but precious only goes so far. These knuckle busters are razor sharp and wonderfully sinister! This week, Plukka is giving away one of these weapon-like rings as part of their Facebook contest right this way . . .
