Another gorgeous series from photographer Kari Herer . . . this time, the collection of photographs celebrates the holidays with winter white gardenias, golden persimmons, and crimson holly. Don’t miss out on a free download of cards and gift tags, thanks to Kari and Anthology Magazine!
Hitting the streets of São Paulo is 6emeia, a collaborative effort between two street artists Leonardo Delafuente (aka Delafuente) and Anderson Augusto (aka SÃO). The duo set out on a mission to reinvent storm drains and manhole covers with colorful and comical paintings. What a creative way of adding perspective to otherwise mundane urban elements!
Levi’s Vintage Clothing pays tribute to the renegade spirit and style of the American biker with 21 one-of-a-kind leather jackets, hand-painted by 13 international artists and illustrators. LVC traces the cultural impact of Danny Lyon’s historic 1968 photo-documentary The Bikeriders. ”When the GIs returned from WWII with hand-painted leather flight jackets, they inspired biker gangs of America to decorate their motorbike jackets, evolving a style that became synonymous with leather, customization, and rebellious artwork.” Oil & Leather is in New York this weekend, at the Pop Up Flea on West 18th Street, before it heads to Toyko – so if you’re in town, be sure to check it out!
Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto‘s latest installation is truly representative of it’s title: Madness Is Part Of Life. He and and his protegé Evandro Machado have suspended thousands of plastic balls with colorful netting, allowing visitors of the exhibition to walk along it’s winding path. The crazy, jungle gym-like structure, set against the pristine white walls of Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo, is pretty genius – I’d love to see, feel, and experience it in person.
Canadian photographer Matt Molloy stacks hundreds of shots, taken from a time lapse video, to create painting like images. The layering creates the most unique brush-like, smeared effect. Honestly, incredible!
Oh, how we love Gray Malin‘s ability to transport us to far away destinations like Sydney, Lisbon, Rio and even Marfa. After swooning over his À la Plage, À la Piscine collection a few months ago, I finally settled on a extra large scale print for my dining room – in hopes that it will sweep me off my feet to St. Tropez every time I glance upon it. And thanks to Gray’s generosity, he’s offered to giveaway one of his signed 44″ x 32″ prints, from his ’A la Plage, A la Piscine‘, ‘Prada Marfa‘, and ‘Up & Away‘ series, to one lucky reader! Simply leave a comment below, follow Gray Malin on Twitter and then head to his Facebook page for the remaining details on how to enter. A winner will be selected at random on November 20th. (Winners will be announced and contacted by email. Good luck! xx)
