Tapestried Creatures

Frederique Morrel and her husband Aaron Levin are best known for their needlepoint covered fiberglass sculptures. The design duo scours garage sales and flea markets in search of vintage tapestries and discarded embroidery to create these one of a kind beauties. “We like materials that tell stories of simple, ideal happiness, and have been caressed by many hands.”

These sculptures are utterly amazing! I love how they take something as masculine and raw as a deer head or a skeleton and turn it in to something beautiful and feminine. The quilted/floral patterns are a great contrast against the macabre nature of the sculptures. Incredibly unique!
