Figuratively Speaking

Even after all these years, I’m still completely blown away by the creativity of miniature diorama artists. So you imagine how delighted I was to recently discover photographer Derrick Lin‘s miniature series. Using only his iPhone, a desk lamp, and an expansive collection of miniatures, Derrick seeks to find the humor of the everyday ups and downs of life. He’s created over 300 vignettes, cleverly using the most ordinary objects as foundations of his tiny scenes. Paper is cut to resemble ocean waves, a notebook’s spiral is used as a bike rack, and index cards echo a an iceberg. Honestly, brilliant!

  5. Weird and wonderful! My faves are the old man blowing leaves and the ransacked office. Talk about the ups and downs of life!
